Crimson buds opening to a soft rose pink flower held in a truss of up to 11 flowers. Long pointed leaves on a tall, upright, and, sometimes, leggy plant to 1.5-1.8m. Prefers light shade and need shelter from strong or persistent winds. (October)

A very tall yakushimanum hybrid which shows the influence of its other, 'Loderi', parent, as does the more tree-like, branching habit., 'Seven Stars' will reach 1.5-1.8m, and there are older, taller specimens. The very pale pink flowers open from red-purple buds, carried in a round truss of up to 15. Prefers a position in light shade. (October)

An early-flowering dwarf (0.4m) with pale yellow-green buds that open pale greenish-yellow and are carried up to 9 to a truss ,but sometimes as few as 3. Best given some light shade, as the flowers will go over quickly in a very sunny position. A neat, spreading habit, and glossy green leaves make this hardy rhododendron a desirable addition to the rhododendron garden. (August-September)

Pale creamy-lavender buds, about 9 to a truss, open cream with a pinkish flush and attractive yellow spotting. Upright habit but can require some shaping (pinch out tips to maintain tidy habit), growing to 1.5m. (October)

A tall, upright truss of clear candy-pink flowers carried about 12 to a truss. A strong-growing plant to 2.0m, with rather 'thick' leaves and stems. (September-October)

Deep pink to red buds open to semi-double creamy pink, flowers with a yellow blotch in the throat. Mid-green, shiny leaves with light indumentum on a bush that grows to 0.8-1.2m. (September-October)

A 'blue' rhododendron with a pinkish-mauve tinge, deeper in the bud, that opens lilac and fades to white. The large trusses and long flowering period have made this a popular choice. Growing to 1.8-2.0m, 'Susan' is a strong, upright plant with attractive deep green, glossy foliage that shows some indumentum and has distinctive purple petioles. (October)
