Rh. 'Damozel'
A vigorous plant which has an open and spreading habit. The deep-rose pink flowers with darker spotting are carried in trusses of about 17. (There is also a red form, which is an altogether brighter colour and has dark brown spotting.) One of the more heat-tolerant hybrids it will grow to 1.8m+. (October) |
Rh. 'Daydream'
Deep rose flowers, which fade to off-white, are carried in an open truss of about 13 flowers. An open and rather scruffy looking bush that grows to about 1.5m, so plant in sun to encourage a neater plant. Similar to the widely available Rh. 'Virginia Richards', which is possibly a better plant. (October-November) |
Rh. 'Dopey'
The influence of yakushimanum in breeding this rhododendron is clearly seen in the compact habit (1.0m) and the firm trusses. Prolific deep-red, glossy flowers. (October-November) |
Rh 'Dora Amateis'
A small growing, mounded plant with deep green leaves, Rh. 'Dora Amateis' is lovely in spring when overed with pure white, funnel shaped flowers which open from pink tinged buds. Happy in the border, this variety seems able to take full sun but may perform better in light shade. |
Rh. 'Dr Stocker'
Deep green, glossy leaves on a wider than tall bush to 1.5m. The white flowers, carried 6-8 in a loose truss in later spring, are streaked with brown and have a light spotting. Resistant to insects. (October) |
Rh. 'Double Eagle'
|
Rh. 'Douglas R Stevens'
Deep rosy red flowers are carried in trusses of about 14, fading to a rosy-pink in sun. The leaves are dark green and glossy on an upright bush that grows to 1.8m. (October) |
