Otairi School Historical Garden Tour

Otairi School in conjunction with the Turakina Valley Community are hosting a Garden Tour through some of the nationally renowned Sheep Stations of the Turakina Valley, Hunterville. Some of these homestead gardens have never been open to the public before. Gardens such as Braemore, Otairi, Otamaire, Lochgowan, Drysdale and Ferndale’s will be on display. A variety of stalls will be available for some pre-Christmas shopping as well as refreshments. A fabulous opportunity to explore some of New Zealand’s magnificent homesteads.

Over a decade ago, this major fundraiser for the Greenhithe Kindergarten was started. Having gone from strength to strength this year promises to be bigger and better than ever! The money raised ensures the Kindergarten upkeep, helps purchase new equipment for the children and the latest teaching tools for staff. View a wonderful selection of local gardens. Craft stalls with artwork, plants, shrubs, jewellery, raffles and there are stops to have a bite to eat.

'Romantic Roses' 2007 National Spring Rose Show and Convention

The Governor General will open the show at 2pm on Saturday 24th November Celebrating 60 years of the Manawatu Rose Society and 75 years of the New Zealand Rose Society. Awards from the International Rose Trial Grounds will be presented on Sunday 25th at the Dugald Mackenzie Rose Gardens, Victoria Esplanade Gardens, Palmerston North.

Every year, gardeners throughout the Shire of Mount Alexander open their wonderful gardens to the public. In odd numbered years we have the main Festival where up to 60 gardens are open over nine days of Melbourne Cup week and weekends. In even numbered years is the Gala of Gardens which is run over the four days of Melbourne Cup weekend when up to 20 gardens are open.
41 gardens will be open to the public, and all the rural areas between. Diverse gardens from the large town gardens to the small cottage garden to the rambling rural properties and everything in between.
